Hakka Culture through Food

Welcome to my website, where my goal is to promote the Hakka culture through it’s most recognizable quality: it’s food. Here’s a quick introduction.

I’ll be researching the history of the Hakka people, how they adapted their cuisine to suit their nomadic lifestyle and other interesting facts and stories.

You’ll find a worldwide list of Hakka restaurants, a Hakka vocabulary/pronunciation guide, recipes and videos. Follow along my journey in discovering the Hakka culture through blog articles I’ll be posting here.

Found the Chinese characters for ‘thunder tea’
A better translation is ‘pound or ground tea’.
擂茶: léi chá (pound tea)
雷: léi (thunder)
